Wayside RV Park ~ Glen Margaret, Nova Scotia (Peggy's Cove)

Description: As soon as we pulled into this park I was thrilled ~ we are right across the street from a cute little cove.  The people in the office are the owners and they were very friendly... The Old guy who bought this park originally sits outside the office everyday and chats with the guest.
Amenities: big rig friendly, coin operated laundromat, hot showers, flush toilets, 2-way and 3-way hook-ups, dump station, on an ocean inlet, ice, fireplaces, woods, free Wi-Fi, Modem hook-up and courtesy phone, Picnic tables.

Directions:  Follow Hwy 104 to Truro and turn onto Hwy 102. Once past Halifax Stanfield Airport stay on the far right as the road splits (Staying left takes you to Dartmouth, not advised if you are trying to get to us). This will keep you on the 102. Follow this to Halifax and once you pass Costco and Walmart, take the next right to put you on Hwy 103. Go to Exit 5, not 2b. Once to Exit 5, turn left. Travel about 3 kms to the end of the road and turn right at the traffic lights. Drive about 300 metres and turn left at the next set of light to put you on Hwy 333. We are about 15kms down on the left at 10295, which you can count down with the property signs on most driveways.

RateElectric and Water RV : $30.00, Full Hook-up : $30.00, 50 Amp Full Hook-up EWS : $5.00 more. Stay 6 nights get 7th free also with some restrictions they honor Passport America.
Date of Stay:  July 24th, 2012 ( 15 nights)

Favorite Sites:  We stayed on site 148 and even though the hook-ups were on the right side of the coach and the sewer on the left ~ our site was so nice.  We pulled in and could see the cove across the street... We had plenty of hose and power cords to hook up.  They have plenty of sites that are really nice  and on the other end there are 5 pull ins that look right into the cove also.

Weather During Stay:  We were here for 2 weeks and we had a lot of cool days around mid seventies and night around 59-60 degrees... Perfect in our books... Of course there were a few days of rain and some morning were socked in with a pretty heavy sea fog.  We LOVED it!
Phone/TV/Internet: Verizon phone worked well ~ We got Satellite with our roof top antenna (Direct TV) ~ Internet card did not work here but the parks free wifi worked great where we were parked.
Elevation/Landscape: Rolling hills with big trees and well manicured lawns.

Lighting/Noise:  Some traffic noise at night but nothing that we couldn't live with also the lighting at night was OK... we slept well here!
Hiking/Walking/Biking:  There are a lot of roads in the park to walk in ~ I am sure there must be hiking trails around but we didn't notice them.  With all the quaint towns around and Halifax we did a ton of walking around them.
Things to See & Do: Peggy's Cove, Memorial sites for Swiss Air Accident, Many quaint towns and coves, Historic Lunenburg, Halifax, Lighthouses, Mahone Bay, Chester and much more.
Rating: (9.8)  Even though this park had no pool it was still in our books almost perfect.  The owners made it really nice and the area is just gorgeous.  We were sad to leave here...

Rating: (6.5) We were caught short on a holiday weekend and needed a place to stay ~ everywhere we called was booked up solid. Finally we called Country Haven and they had 2 sites left so we quickly booked one after asking key questions like are the level and do you have 50 amp. Well the sites that were left were 30 but we knew we could get away with that since it hadn't been too hot. Then we read the reviews ~ Go there first before you book. (Click here for reviews) They say dogs can stay but when you get there they tell you don't let them bark at all.  Really???  All dogs bark don't they?  I was scared after we read them but we didn't have any problems... except the sites were not level (at all) and the voltage was really really bad.

Artillery Ridge Campground Resort ~ Gettysburg, Pa

Description:  OK ~ I am not a hard person to please... When I call for reservations I ask for a few things ~ that is if I am traveling with friends or meet up with someone I know we'd like to park together and we would like to be able to receive Satellite TV if you don't have cable in the park.  This is what I asked for when we made our reservations at Artillery Ridge RV park.  The lady who was at the front desk started out defensive since she knew we wanted 2 sites together and wanted to get satellite... she blamed it on the help there and when I said it wouldn't work for us since the sites were very unlevel too she said she had some sites in the back we could be happy with... well we weren't.  Yes we could get satellite but the sites were so unlevel our coach wouldn't level out... right across the street were sites that had gravel and were somewhat level.  Now there were sites up front that were nicer but she told us they were not available however no one ever went in them... We were in the back right near all the horses in water soaked sites...  after asking not to be near the horses since my husband has allergies to Horse fly stings.  We still had fun and enjoyed our time in Gettysburg but if I ever come back we will NOT be staying in this park.  I am sure some people have stayed here and liked it but the woman's nasty attitude did me in.  There were others who worked there that were a lot more friendly. You may like it... On a positive note they are really close to the battlefields and town.

    Date of Stay:  May 8th, 2012 ~ 4 nights

Weather During Stay: Mostly rain and cool

Favorite Sites: We stayed on site 405 and it was OK... 406 was better but we were way in the back of the park

Rate: $31.28 with Passport & Good Sam

Phone/TV/Internet: Both AT&T and Verizon worked well.  No cable TV but we did finally get a site where we had good satellite with roof dish (Direct TV)

Elevation/Landscape:  Uneven sites & trees.  It was part of the battlefield and that was very interesting

Lighting/Noise:  It was definitely quiet and dark in the back and we did sleep very well.

Hiking/Walking/Biking:  You could walk around the park and visit all the horses.  Also the town and Battlefield are an excellent place to get out and walk.

Things to See & Do:  There are many things to see and do while in this area.  The Gettysburg National Battlefield is the main attraction but also Dwight D. Eisenhower's home & farm are also here.  Plus many other related sites ~ click here to find out more.  While you are here definitely go to the 235 year old Dobbin House & Tavern for their famous Onion Soup.  You will not be disappointed

Rating: (5)  I would not stay here again ~ there are many RV Parks in this area and I would try another.  It may have been the rough start with the lady at the desk but I would never come back here.  There were a lot of tents here and permanent people.
